What we treat

  • Language Disorders

Aphasia is a language disorder that can affect your expressive-receptive language skills and sometimes reading/writing. We can help improve these skills, manage symptoms, and develop strategies for more functional communication with others.

  • Swallowing Difficulties

Are you coughing or choking during mealtimes? We can help by identifying a swallowing impairment, manage your diet, provide safe swallowing strategies to improve mealtimes, and even teach effective exercises to improve swallow function.

  • Voice Disorders

If you have experienced changes in your vocal quality, we can help by providing vocal exercises, giving you effective communication strategies, and educating you on appropriate vocal hygiene to improve your voice and functional communication.

  • Apraxia of Speech

This motor speech disorder can cause difficulty pronouncing words correctly and have a large impact on communication. By using and teaching specific exercises, we can help you improve your ability to produce speech and effectively communicate with others.

  • Cognitive Communication Deficits

You may experience changes in your memory, attention, or problem solving skills following any kind of damage to the brain. We can help identify the severity of the impairment and develop a treatment plan that improves your daily functioning.

  • Fluency Disorders

The disruption in the flow of speech, otherwise known as stuttering, can impact your functional communication and confidence with speaking. We can help by teaching effective strategies and working together to increase your confidence in your speaking abilities in different environments.

Treatment Sessions

We work together to develop effective and personalized treatment plans that aim to improve performance in any area of deficit while taking into account your everyday life. Our treatment sessions are conducted in the comfort of your own home, allowing us to address functional skills in the setting where they are most relevant and effective. Caregiver Involvement

We prioritize the involvement of caregivers throughout the treatment process and believe that it is a crucial part of recovery. Education will be provided during or following each treatment session with a shared, weekly progress note. We also offer caregiver coaching classes to answer any lingering questions or provide more extensive education on how you can better help a loved on at home.
