Pediatric Speech Therapy

We partner with families across Birmingham to help children build communication skills with warmth, evidence-based methods, and care that meets your child where they are, so they can reach milestones with confidence.

How we can help

Language disorders

We support children who have difficulty understanding others or expressing ideas, including limited vocabulary, short sentences, or trouble following directions. Therapy targets comprehension, grammar, and functional language for school and home.

Articulation disorders

When speech sounds are hard to produce or hard to understand, we use motivating drills and meaningful practice. We align targets with developmental expectations and what matters most for your child’s clarity in daily life.

Social communication

Some children need help with conversation, perspective-taking, and social routines. We build skills for greetings, play, friendship, and classroom participation using structured practice and naturalistic opportunities.

Childhood apraxia of speech

CAS affects planning and programming of speech movements. We use principled motor-based approaches, careful cueing, and lots of repetition so children gain volitional control and increasingly intelligible speech over time.

Phonological processing disorders

Patterns like fronting or cluster reduction can make speech sound younger than a child’s true age. We teach new sound patterns through listening, contrasts, and playful practice so speech becomes more accurate and easier for listeners.

Fluency

For stuttering and other fluency differences, we combine child-friendly education with strategies that support smooth speech and confident talking. We also help families respond in ways that reduce pressure and build resilience.

Treatment sessions

Sessions are lively, child-led, and grounded in goals you care about. We bring therapy to your home so practice fits real routines like kitchen table games, backyard movement breaks, and story time on the couch. We balance focused practice with play so progress carries into everyday life.

Caregiver involvement

Parents and caregivers are essential members of the therapy team. You receive practical coaching, handouts, and modeling so you know how to support new sounds, words, and social skills between visits. We answer questions honestly and adjust strategies as your child grows.

Observe

Watch techniques in action during sessions so you can mirror cues and pacing at home.

Practice

Short, doable practice windows keep motivation high without overwhelming busy schedules.

Check in

We celebrate wins, troubleshoot barriers, and update goals together as progress unfolds.
